Forming Method by Formers
Formers use plasticity deformation (*1) processing to form, but in order to obtain the necessary shape, a shearing process (*2) is also carried out. These forming methods will be introduced below.
*1) Plasticity/Deformation
During deformation (when the stress is greater than the elasticity limit), even if the stress is relieved, the material tends to not return to its original shape. Certain properties are necessary to obtain a specific shape, one of them being a notable amount of viscosity. By using plasticity/deformation, forming can take place without causing cracking, and it is possible for a new shape to be held.
*2) Shearing
In general, when working with plasticity, plasticity deformation is applied to the material to give it the desired size and shape. This decreases the risk of damage. In the shearing process, damage often occurs and the product is separated from the raw materials. However, forming a shear cut surface is considered one process of plasticity deformation and is separate from the cutting process.
